History

Becker Acroma is today the sum of its past efforts and of generations come and gone. In more than 140 years of accumulated knowledge, skills and innovative thinking that lives on and enriches our relationships with our customers, retailers and distributors. So, before looking to the future, let’s get acquainted with our first 140 years.

1874
Carl Wilhelm Becker opens his first factory producing paints and varnishes. The company “Beckers” becomes the first company in Sweden to combine production, retail and wholesales in the same business.

1968
Acroma Lack AB is founded and has its humble beginnings in a disused dairy on Bellö in southern Sweden. Company develop, produces and sells finished stain systems and clear lacquers, with a view to producing more environmentally-friendly finishing systems.

1980
Following vigorous expansion into Scandinavia and eastern Europe the company is sold to Casco AB. Together with AB Wilh. Becker, Becker Acroma is formed.

1982
AB Wilh. Becker takes over Becker Acroma and it becomes a division of Becker Industrifärg AB, based in Märsta, Sweden.

1990
Becker Acroma AB founded.

1996
Becker Acroma AB merges with Klintens AB and Becker Acroma Klinten is founded.

2000
Becker Acroma acquires Granyte, a leading UK wood finishing company. This puts Becker Acroma in a leading position in the UK wood finishing business.

2010
Becker Acroma is acquired by Sherwin-Williams.
