Office Furniture
Kinnarps is a Swedish, family-owned office furniture solutions business. It has 1,750 employees, three production units and is represented in more than 200 locations in around 40 countries.
Kinnarps has been a customer of Becker Acroma since the 1960s and a key milestone in the relationship was the introduction of Sweden’s first full UV line in 1979/80.
Another milestone happened just a few years ago, when Bengt Norström from Becker Acroma met with Benny Grönborg, Surface Coatings Manager at Kinnarps. Benny had been asked to find a more cost-effective, but still high-quality coating option for some of its office furniture. So, at the meeting, Bengt produced a printed substrate that Becker Acroma had been working on and the ball started rolling.
Many complex problems had to be faced and overcome, among them the development of a new UV ink, the line layout and construction, the type and placement of print rollers and probably the biggest challenge of all; how to achieve the quality demanded by Kinnarps and its customers and comply with its strict environmental policy. The project made use of Becker Acroma’s full-scale Technical Centre in Stockholm to test its ideas and this meant that Kinnarps could save valuable production time at their plant.
Benny has this to say about working with Becker Acroma:
“Becker Acroma are really flexible and having the technical centre at Märsta at our disposal and to test our ideas live was really good. At every stage of the project, which is ongoing, Becker Acroma gives us 100% effort and comm¬itment. We are really happy with the solution that we arrived at with Becker Acroma’s help and I don’t think we could have done it without them.”
